Imma be a little late

What is this? What this is not is the costume we looked at on Ebay, decided was perfect, was only $50, purchased and arrived on time on Friday. Nope, it's not that. Not at all. Because the costume wasn't quite perfect. Wasn't quite Anna. ("Oh, that's okay, Mommy, I'll wear it...it's fine...really...no big deal..." Dang it, child! Don't look at me with those big brown eyes! I know it's not what we expected. I'm going! I'm going! I still have two days. We'll snip and clip and stitch and glue and improvise something that is totally Anna.)

What this is also not is last year's Halloween costume. This was last year's Halloween costume. Queen Bee with a beehive hairdo with lots of bees buzzing about.

Black fuzzy fur and yellow polyester!

(I'd only heard that Black Eyed Peas song "Imma Be" about three times. At three times, a Black Eyed Peas song is  really catchy, really fun. At five times a Black Eyed Peas song becomes nothing but irritating. "Imma be livin' that good life...Imma be livin' that good, good life..." I'm annoying myself...)

And a honey bear scepter.

Do not look to closely at this thing once it's done. And I better get back to work. How 'bout you?

Looks fantastic from here!

I'm rushing today in an attempt to finish 1 costume and put some touches on the other 2. The trunk has to be sewn to the hood for the elephant (my 2 yr-old son) and the tulle I added to the crinoline of the Cinderella costume to make it poofier (my almost 5 yr-old daughter) needs trimming. And I need to redo the headpiece with a little hot glue. Luckily the costume was made 7 years ago for her older sister and I was smart enough to keep it.

The costume that needs the most work is the gown I made for my oldest daughter (11 yrs) who decided to be something scary for a change - an 18th Century-type of vampire, complete with red and black gown.

Four homemade Halloween costumes? I'm going to stop complaining now... ;-)

You rock, Jen!

P.S. The hot glue was still warm on Anna's outfit as she got in the car to go to school ;-P Yeah hot glue!!

For the first year, the very first, I bought the ready made. I was willing at first, to shrug off impending doom (I mean deadlines) and make something spiffy, because for the first year since she could choose for herself...she wanted to be something other than a fairy princess! This was big!

Then, at the point of no return she said, "Actually Mama, Fairy Princess, for realz!" So I smiled, a little deflated, a little relieved and said, "Get in the car we're going to the Halloween Superstore." I just couldn't make one more wand. And you know what? It was really, really easy.
Oh, except for the part where she punched the mechanized evil clown in the face and freaked out the staff thinking she'd busted the thing. Although if you ask me, he deserved it.

May I borrow the bee and queen costumes for my photo shoot?
I know I ask for way too much, that's why my word I must type to leave this comment is+ disoun (Disown) as in: you may disown me completely.
