I was in South Beach, Miami for three days. I am most certainly not the type of person to be in SoBe for three days. Except this once. I went with it.
South Beach, this marvelous mavin, this divine art deco grande dame just revving up for the debaucherous right of passage (or passing out) known as Spring Break, was in beautiful form.
I will post some photos over the next days.
This old dude likes America and his dog. So do I. And yes, I do also have perhaps a slightly unhealthy affection for my fisheye lens. Just go with it.
SoBe has about everything a California beach would have, except no surf and no hippies. This is Florida, after all. High heels and dangly earrings are beach de rigeur, darling. I did find a wishing tree, though. Careful, Florida: It is a slippery slope. One day a wishing tree and the next, drum circles and hairy-legged women to contend with. But whatever East Coast/West Coast disparities there may be, I think this particular wish is one we can all agree on.
As to my exploration of what is means to be beautiful, SoBe really is not the place for the unconfident. But the water really is this color! Screw it: I'm going in. The only cellulite to be seen for 100 miles, I'm sure. Hey, I just make everybody else on the beach look that much better! You're welcome!
