My girl fits a Farbenmix pattern at just about the 122/128 cutting line. She's kind of on the slim side (she does not take after her mother). You will see that I do not have a 5/8-inch seam allowance, but much less. Please cut your seam allowance to fit your child. All the pieces are cut 2x with the grain. Only the waistband is cut on the fold.
And this is how the pieces lay out. See? This really, really is going to be a pair of trousers.
I've chosen a 6 oz. denim and a comparable weight camo twill, because something about the pockets and piecing is saying "adventure" to me. And, I thought, with these materials, we might also be able to image the boy version. Please look here and here for inspiration and ideas.
And transfer those markings! On these patterns, instead of notches, as you may be used to, these are the marks used to match pieces to one another.
Here, I'm playing with the trim details I'd like to incorporate. Any thoughts?
I think that's enough for today. If none of that made any sense to you, maybe Melissa Wondermommy will be more helpful.
See you tomorrow!

I guess I need to get off of my hiney and catch up. Your photos and instructions were great!
love seeing someone else in the designing mode!
Can't wait to see the end result.
I am always in such a hurry to get the end result that I don't take time to make an original pattern....never pays to have to go through the whole process again and again but when will I learn? LOL
Are you doing any appliques on it with felt for a color other than red, green and denim...like the *pop* color or are you going for the matchy look on these?
